This article will show YOU how to improve your networking results by 50% or more, in just 5-minutes! Have I caught your attention & interest?
Most people at networking events wing it. They come unprepared and hide behind their business card, which is frankly ineffectual. As we all know, time is money, so if you’re spending 1 or 2 hours networking, why go unprepared? It doesn’t make sense, does it?
When you’re networking you need a 10 second introduction, to generate attention and interest! So, if someone asks you “What do you do?” you need to know what to say to them.
If you’re a Sales Consultant and you say “I’m a Sales Consultant!” Do you think that would do it? Probably not!
However, if you say “I help sales people and business owners master the secrets of increasing their prospecting, by as much as 50%” Do you think that might catch their attention and interest? Yes, it probably would!
If you did catch their attention and interest, they’d probably say something like “Wow, how do you do that?” If that’s the kind of response you’re getting when you’re networking, then congratulations, you’ve cracked it!
But when networkers tell other people what they do, the response is usually “Ah okay!” where no interest whatsoever is being expressed! However, this lack of interest will seldom prevent them from talking further about…How long they’ve been in business…how great their business is…how much they love it etc.
So, here’s what you need to understand before you tell another person what you do for a living! Your prospects are just like YOU. They couldn’t care less what you do, unless what you do makes a connection with them!
If you say “I’m a Sales Consultant!” and they say “Oh, really!” don’t mistake “Oh, really!” with enthusiasm. Even though it may sound like a question, it’s really a statement which is saying “Oh really, I don’t give a shhh…sugar…!”
You need to consider why the prospect should listen to you and why they should do business with YOU, rather than your competition. That’s the key!
Developing a well crafted 10 second intro will buy you a 30 second follow-up ad about your business that they’ll probably listen to but this rarely happens!
People often get excited and enthusiastic about their product or service and want to share all their information with you. However, prospects are never excited about coming to a networking event and buying a product, or service from you.
They are there to get business, not to give business. That’s why it’s often pointless to try to get new business at a networking event. They’re actually looking for you to give them your business!
So, this is why you need a compelling 10 second intro and a 30 second, follow-up ad!
The 10 second intro is just a one-liner, that tells people who you are and what you do. However, it needs to be said in such a way as to peak their interest! It’s a quick and intriguing response to the question “What do you do?”
As long as you peak someone’s interest, you can start a dialogue and once you’ve started a dialogue, there’s a good possibility of you and your prospect getting to know each other and building some rapport!
Once you’ve built that rapport, it’s possible for the prospect to become your customer, or they may know someone who could become your perfect customer!
If you craft a compelling 10 second intro and 30 second follow-up ad, you’ll move ahead of your competition!
Do you want to leave your competition for dead? If yes, take action now. By doing so, you’ll discover that you’ll be able to create excitement about what you do, just 10 – 40 seconds after you meet a prospect!
