Tools
- Make the most of video and gifs, social media users love these, we’d also like to mention boomerangs : )
- Create collages to present a number of photos in one post
- Use Canva to create Social Media Cards designed to increase engagement i.e. presence at an event, exhibition, meaningful quotes, testimonials etc… to bring plain text posts to life
- Look at trending Hashtags – https://hashtagify.me is one we use
- Use emjoi’s in your messages, here’s a website we use – https://www.piliapp.com/twitter-symbols/
- I often Google gifs that are relevant to what I want to talk about and share those.
- There are hashtags that trend for certain days of the week i.e. #TuesdayThoughts #ThrowbackThursday. Some of the popular ones are here – https://thrivehive.com/39-daily-hashtags-for-small-business-marketing/
- There are also other hashtags that trend for certain days of the year i.e. #worldbookday #worldmusicday
Posting Tips
- Try and keep your posts ‘business like’ but you can still have fun – within reason!
- Encourage interactions – ask questions and get views/opinions on topics that are trending.
- You should try and direct as many posts as possible to your website. The aim is to make it easy for them to a) find out what you do b) get in touch
- Engage with others by sharing, liking and commenting on posts
- Re-tweet and share other posts from relevant industry media sources – use lists on Twitter to manage this
Help! I’ve no idea what to post!
- New client wins (you do not need to mention names)
- Photos and videos of new projects – videos showing work being completed and images throughout the whole project also showing before and after visuals. Give your social media audience a peak into what you are working on
- Client success stories – case studies and testimonials linked back to your website
- New partnership announcements
- Articles that you have written and published on your website
- Pictures, videos, live video’s at events, exhibitions, seminars, workshops, networking groups etc…
- Send thank you messages to followers and those who have engaged with your posts on Twitter. GIFs can be great for this. Google ‘thank you for following gifs’
- Visits to clients offices – ‘great meeting today with ….. talking about …..
- Pictures and Videos from staff at networking events/lunches/training for new skills / company developments
- Posts from other sources – media sites / partners / people that inspire you
- Webinars and Podcasts – providing tips and information related to your business that will help others
When posting you must reference any companies, individuals, locations, products, services delivered to increase brand your post reach and interactions. Make sure you are using the @ symbol and hashtags for popular keywords. You should also include, photos / videos where possible as visual posts see the most engagement.
Live video is now trending across many social media channels and shouldn’t be excluded from your social media strategy.
Choosing the right channels
- Facebook and Instagram are great channels for B2C companies – schedule posts to help save time and check you have your messenger button activated
- LinkedIn posts should be strictly professional, Twitter posts can be semi-professional and Instagram & Facebook posts can be a bit more creative and fun!
- Separate your personal and business accounts so you are posting relevant information to your audience. We see so many business owners sharing personal occasions and hobbies on their business profiles!
- All staff should be actively using their own personal LinkedIn page – posting, commenting, sharing, liking, building connections, engaging in groups etc…
- All businesses should have a Google Business page. Within your page you can share as much content and videos as you like. We strongly suggest using their posting feature as these will appear in Google rankings under your profile.
- If you’re a company that have many images you might want to consider Pinterest. Particularly if you’re in the retail, food, home and style industries.
