Why not grab a coffee and a notepad and read our quick top 10 marketing tips…
- When was the last time you audited your website? Could you make some changes to provide a more seamless user experience? Think about how potential customers move around your website, do you have links featured to other relevant pages, is it easy for them to get in touch?
- Does your website content and individual pages include your keywords? Have you done your keyword research? Your website content, image alt tags and the back end of your website should all include the keywords relevant to your business? Set up a Google Ads account, they have a great keyword planner that enables you to see which keywords have the highest search volumes and helps you to explore other keywords associated to your business. It’s worth noting at this stage you do not need to start spending with Google.
- No business should underestimate the power of customer reviews. It’s one of the first things potential customers will source. Depending on your type of business, reviews can be left on Trip Advisor, Google My Business and Facebook to name a few. Your reviews should either be embedded or manually added to your website. - Video and visuals in general provide potential customers with a great insight into your brand, your personality and what they might expect when buying your product or service. Live video has been proven to drive more views and engagement so shouldn’t be ruled out of your social media plan.
- If you’re a business targeting local customers create ‘location landing pages’ these do not need to be on your website menu and can sit behind the scenes but help you to feature in searches engine results for location based searches. i.e. Business Adviser in Maidenhead, Therapist in Marlow, for example. - Google also loves a website which regularly features fresh content. Adding a blog to your website will help your business to rank higher in search engine results and boosts your online visibility. Remember to provide ‘value’, include your keywords and optimise your page for Google. Adding blogs also provide great content that you can share across your social media channels.
- Do you have a social media strategy in place? Which channels are your audience spending most of their time? How have your past posts performed? Does video work better than plain text posts? Use your social media channel analytics and review which channels/posts have the most engagement and interactions and spend more time and energy on those.
- Do you know where your website traffic is coming from? Google Analytics allows you to see which Marketing channels are performing the best. You can even take it a step further and set up contact form tracking to see which channels generate the highest conversions. Google Analytics shows traffic from your social media channels, email marketing campaigns, organic search and Google Ads as well as from other sources like Yell and Bing.
- How often are you reaching out to your existing customers? So many businesses spend their efforts on reaching new customers and miss out on the opportunities for repeat business. Ensure you have a plan and schedule in place for keeping in touch, whether it’s via email, LinkedIn or phone.
- Establishing key partnerships and building relationships is key for small businesses to support business growth. Explore local networking groups, identify opportunities to deliver workshops or seminars, get in touch with other businesses that complement yours to see if there is scope to a) expand your business offering and b) send/receive referrals.
